FamiCord Group Celebrates 2025 JAN Award Winners – Second Edition

They are creative, committed, and true leaders – meet the winners of the second edition of the JAN Award

The second edition of the JAN Award was celebrated at the Senior Management & Marketing & Sales meeting in Wrocław this September 2025. This year, the award was expanded with two new categories – Best Employee/Manager and Best Initiative – recognizing outstanding contributions from individuals and teams across the Group.

At the meeting, the winners of the 2025 JAN Award were announced:

  • Best Employee/Manager: Josefin Zschaler (Germany)
  • Best Initiative: Swiss-Polish teams for the first transplant performed in 2025
  • Best Performing Company: Krio (Hungary)

The award was originally introduced to honor the first child to receive a life-saving cord blood transplant stored in the FamiCord Group laboratories. Presented annually at the Senior Management meeting, the JAN Award recognizes outstanding achievements across multiple categories, highlighting the Group’s ultimate goal: saving lives. Every step, every innovation, brings hope to patients and families worldwide.

Krio was recognized as the Best Performing Company for consistently delivering exceptional results across operations and for its contribution to the Group’s strategic objectives. Josefin Zschaler received the Best Employee/Manager award for her exceptional leadership and impact, described in one sentence: If we don’t know who will do it, Josefin will while the Swiss-Polish teams were honored with Best Initiative for their impressive team work work on the first transplant performed in 2025. Thanks to their dedication, the first of cord blood transplantation in Europe in 2025 was successfully performed in Wroclaw. 

As Jakub Baran, CEO of FamiCord Group, explains: “The JAN Award is not solely about achieving revenue targets. The JAN Award covers a unique timeframe of 12 months, including the second half of the previous year and the first half of the current year. GMs nominate candidates, and the Group Management Board selects the winners. The 2025 edition showcased FamiCord Group’s commitment to recognizing excellence and celebrating both individual and team achievements that make a real difference in patients’ lives.

  • Infantile cerebral palsy – Convincing evidence for the use of perinatal stem cells Leipzig, July 15, 2025 - Cerebral palsy (CP) continues to be one of the most common motor disabilities in childhood and is associated with permanent movement restrictions and spasticity. The therapeutic potential of stem cells from umbilical cord blood and tissue was discussed at the 37th Annual Meeting of the European Academy Of Childhood-onset Disabilities (EACD) and the 4th Meeting of the International Alliance of Academies of C hildhood Disability (IAACD) from June 24 - 28, 2025 in Heidelberg.
